Would you let a mechanic style your hair on your wedding day? Would you want the florist to make alterations to your dress? Obviously not, the same goes for choosing a photographer. Your wedding day is a once in lifetime opportunity and there is no time for do-overs or mulligans. A professional photographer will have experience shooting in all kinds of situations and will know how to handle those situations. In addition, they will have back up equipment just in case something happens during the course of your day. You don’t want to hear excuses about flashes burning up or cracked lenses during your wedding day. Also a professional will have equipment insurance as well as liability insurance to protect himself and you during the event. More importantly, a professional should put your mind at ease. Afterall, you don’t want your photographer skipping town and not delivering your images, do you? You should feel confident and not have to worry if your pictures will turn out as you hoped. All of this comes with a price of course. Pricing for photography is all over the board but professional photographers will surely cost more than the newcomer or student.
In conclusion, a few things all professional photographers will have is experience, back up equipment, and insurance. These should give you, the bride/groom, piece of mind knowing that your images will be captured and deliverd as promised. Keep these things in mind as you inteview photographers. Yes, their style, personality and artistic vision is important, but so is the other phases of running and operating as a photographer.
